From Minnesota to Cape Girardeau, MO in a Kayak

Okay, so we are anchored out at Bellevue just south of the lock.  As the the gates open, I wait and wait for the vessell to come out.  Nothing.  Oh wait... it is one little kayak.  As the guy gets near our boat, I call over to him, "hey, where are you headed?"  He paddles over to us as he says, "Cape Girardeau, MO."  He started in Minnesota and is heading for Cape Girardeau where he lives.

He had kayaked from Cape Girardeau to the gulf once and now wanted to do the upper Mississippi so he could say he had done it all.  We ran into him on June 7th, but I forgot to get a photo of him. Doesn't look like we will be running across him again until we get to Cape Girardeau. He was putting in about 50 miles everyday and hoped to be in Cape Girardeau sometime this week. We've got his phone number so we will definitely see him again.  Here is an article about he and another kayaker from several years ago.  Danny is the guy near the blue kayak.

When we get to Cape Girardeau, we will definitely give an update on Danny Rees, kayaker, drummer and plumber in Cape Girardeau, MO.
