Bass Tournament & Sabula, IA

28 - 2 man teams were participating in the Big Bass Tournament at Savanna on Sunday.  They all had to check back in at 1:00 sharp.

Here is a team pulling out their biggest bass. There was a prize for biggest bass (weight) and for total weight of all the bass each team had caught.  Of course, all fish had to be state minimum requirements to qualify.

Weighing the catch (above)

Some mighty fine bass.

The railroad swing bridge at Sabula, IA

An old limestone house in Sabula, IA. The town of Sabula located on an island in the Mississippi River.  The population is approx. 639.

Just south of Sabula, we found a quiet sandy beach.  We anchored Heron about 30' out from shore & dinghied onto to island.  Unfortunately, we stayed on the sand as the rest of the island was overtaken by poison ivy.  A fun way to spend the sunny warm afternoon.  Wicket loved running freely all around, too.

Exploring the island and enjoying the river.

And the mane will not be tamed. (below)

 Goolash for supper.  Fantastic!
