Bert and Mary Shaw, our welcome wagon team in Savanna, told us about "Sweet Life" on Main Street. It is just a 2 block walk from our boat and a great place for breakfast. Shirley Lockwood just opened the cafe in Oct. 2010. She has cloth tablecloths on the tables and the water is served in stemmed glasses. The best thing is the food. Everything is homemade, just like grandma's cookin'.
Located on Savanna's Main Street in a historic building built in 1906, Sweet Life Bakery Café boasts the original art deco Soda Fountain from the 30's serving real hand-poured cherry cokes and ice cream treats. The on-site bakery has fresh bread, cinnamon/pecan rolls, pies, cookies, muffins, pastries and more.
Okay, looks like Sunday brunch tomorrow at Sweet Life Bakery. Lucky me!
