Camanche Iowa or Cordovia, IL

Motored into this sandpit Thursday afternoon. We had been told by Kathy at Clinton that it would be a great place to anchor out. Yes, she was so right about that. We are very protected on 3 sides and way off the main channel. Haven't had any wind or rain since we got here. We had been warned by many locals that the sandpit is the weekend "party cove", so we weren't too sure how we'd like that. We aren't "big" party people. As it turned out... only about 12 boats showed up today, spread all around the 60 acre pit, we had no problem with anybody.

The two pics above are of the sandpit.  Very quiet and peaceful.  Heron has a 3 1/2' draft, but even with that deep bottom, we were able to pull up to shore about 12' away.  The bottom of the sandpit drops off drastically at the shore.

Bob takes a swim and decides to use this opportunity to scrub down the hull.
I looked out the porthole as I was posting this blog and couldn't resist taking a picture of the sunset.  Pink sky at night...

YOUR BOAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Anchored there in the sandpit with all the awnings up. If the water were clear and blue you could have been somewhere else. The photois just so serene. Planning another trip to Saylorville this weekend. Don S. tripped and broke his ankle, taking it very light heatedly though. Have a good day and be safe. Marc
