About 12 miles south of town on a rough dirt/sand road, one is suppose to be able to find fossils.
We hiked until I started feelling icky. (Probably lack of water) Then we had to turn around & head back to the truck where we had water and tootsie roll pops.We have the truck packed with water and hardier snacks now. We will be prepared next time.

Where is the water? And when do you think you will be back in Iowa? I'm planning a trip to Rathbun Fathers day weekend and the whole week after. Can't wait. Get out of the desert and back on Heron lol. Love your posts though, take care, Marc
Marc, We are planning on being back in central Iowa about June 20th or so. Once back in the Des Moines area, we'll be camping in the area for a couple of months before heading south for the winter again. We'll likely go to Texas sometime in Sept. We'll have to get together sometime this summer. We'll keep you posted of our progress on here.
